Have you ever looked up a business’ address only to end up in the wrong parking lot? Or drive across town only to find out the business hours were wrong? It’s frustrating for anyone and completely avoidable. 

Local SEO, also known as Local Search Engine Optimization is the process of increasing your business’ visibility in a specific area or region. 

Contrary to general SEO that focuses on making your website as search engine friendly as possible, Local SEO focuses on business accuracy with data aggregators in addition to making strategic tweaks to your website. 

Realistically there are thousands of places your business could be listed on the internet and you’ve probably never even heard of 95% of them. 

This is because Primary Data aggregators collect information then sell it to key sites and search engines (like Google, Facebook, and that compile that information plus information they collect. Then directories, like AngiesList, BBB, and Manta will also receive this data from other sources and display it. Then smaller, niche directories repeat the process. 

And if you’ve ever moved, changed your phone number, business name, or anything else about your business, the information displayed throughout the internet could be wrong.

That is where Local SEO comes in. It helps your business information establish consistency across the internet by concentrating on your local area and directories that make sense for your business. In turn, making it easier for your customers to find you easier in your local area.
